The Plant Director is responsible for managing the blending, packaging, maintenance, and distribution operations within the facility. The individual in this position will ensure the company’s strategic plans are implemented along with the responsibility of building a safe, quality, and efficient operation. This position is responsible for developing and executing of expense budgets, along with capital improvement budgets.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
To Perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function.

Must be able to present data about the facility to upper management in a clear and concise manner.
Develop strategies for improving safety culture in his/her facility collaborating with EHS corporate Manager.
Continually evaluate processes, make recommendations, and implement improvements to optimize efficiency. Establish and document standard operating procedures and ensure the team is adhering to them. Drive continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs or increase productivity without reducing effectiveness. Lead his team members in the development and implementation of lean manufacturing programs, taking responsibility for sustaining lean principles and ensuring diagnostic score card goals are assigned to and implemented.
Prepare, review, and distribute manufacturing and distribution metrics. Ensure performance and trending analyses are completed and appropriate corrective actions and associate performance recognition plans are executed.
Lead the operations manager position on how to successfully manage budgets.
Ensure prompt and proper storage, handling, receiving, and shipping of finished goods and raw materials.
Collaborate with the EHS team to ensure all team members are aware of safety policies to provide a safe workplace for our associates.
Identify, recommend, and implement changes to improve productivity and quality, reduce cost, and reduce or eliminate scrap. Direct the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of production standards.
Collaborate with engineering on relevant manufacturing information and technology to increase innovation and ensure regulatory compliance.
Lead team members in a manner that enables growth and success through feedback, training, and encouragement.
Establish performance expectations for team members and provide regular feedback and performance reviews to ensure that team members understand how their job duties support the company’s mission and have the right tools/resources to do their jobs well.
Investigate performance concerns and implement disciplinary action, up to and including termination, as needed and in compliance with company procedures and with consultation with the human resources department.
Collaborate with Human Resources on complaints and performance concerns and implement disciplinary action, up to and including termination, as needed and in compliance with company procedures.
Work with human resources department to manage hiring process for direct reports; interview and select candidates for hire in compliance with company processes.
Adhere to established company values, practices, policies, and procedures at all times. Follow and support compliance with all applicable safety rules, laws, regulations, and standards.
Maintain an open and candid working relationship with immediate supervisor/manager in discussing matters of importance.
Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance at the assigned work location.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
An individual qualified for this job must be able to:
Effectively supervise and lead large work teams of associates at various levels of management roles.
Demonstrate strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with an eye for detail.
Operate in an entrepreneurial mindset with a hands-on approach towards business.
Develop and interpret charts and graphs displaying departmental performance and objectives.
Understand and use basic lean skills including, root cause analysis, problem solving, run charts, histograms, story boards, scatter diagrams, control charts, and cause and effect diagrams. Must have a basic understanding of Statistical process control (SPC) concepts and applications.
Read and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Work with mathematical concepts to solve complex problems and to develop practical solutions.
Demonstrate advanced knowledge of production and manufacturing operations.
Lead and inspire team members; must be able to relate to and build team working relationships.
Efficiently operate a computer and demonstrate PC proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Effectively and professionally communicate with co-workers, team members, and internal or external customers. Present information clearly and accurately.
Pay attention to details and pursue quality in accomplishing work duties and tasks. Look for opportunities to reduce costs or increase productivity without reducing effectiveness.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATIONS
An individual qualified for this job must have and maintain the following qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Management, Engineering, Operations, or related field.
Five (5) years in a Plant Manager position.
Fifteen (15) years’ related experience in manufacturing and/or chemical industry; or any satisfactory combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the above duties.
Verifiable track record of effective leadership and increasingly responsible experience in a manufacturing facility.
Six Sigma, Green Belt or Black Belt certification highly desirable.

ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS
The environmental conditions described here are representative of those the associate encounters while performing the Essential Functions of the job.
The individual will work in an office setting in the same room as other individuals. Noise levels are average for an office and include conversation and/or office equipment noise.
While working with team members at manufacturing and distribution facilities, the individual may be exposed to moving machinery, work in high/precarious places, marked changes in temperature and humidity, and dust, odors, and fumes. Typical noise level is loud.
