Blow Mold Maintenance Supervisor

Department: Operations-Blow Mold Supervision
Location: Glen Dale, WV

Retention Bonus eligible!
This position offers a built-in bonus that is paid throughout the new hire’s first year of employment. It is paid out as outlined below:

  • $500 bonus once the new hire reaches 3 months or continued employment.
  • $500 bonus once the new hire reaches 6 months or continued employment.
  • $1,000 bonus once the new hire reaches 12 months or continued employment.
SUMMARY
The Blow Molding Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the direct day to day supervision of Blow Molding department maintenance associates, including setting work priorities, assigning work orders, assigning preventative maintenance tasks, setting work standards, and providing technical direction. The individual in this position has joint responsibility with shift supervisors for the reduction of unscheduled downtime and the achievement of appropriate manufacturing safety, quality, customer service, and cost standards. The Blow Molding Maintenance Supervisor is also responsible for insuring the effective use of the MVP program and the development of predictive maintenance tasks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

To Perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function.

  • Supervise Blow Molding department maintenance associates by setting work priorities, assigning work orders, assigning preventive maintenance tasks, setting work standards, and providing technical direction.
  • Maintain down time records sufficient to quantify downtime, such as establishing downtime RCAs, understanding, and developing downtime trending, and developing and monitoring corrective action plans to reduce downtime.
  • Communicate all relevant performance information to Blow Molding department management in an effective and concise manner.
  • Develop and manage maintenance related Continuous Improvement Projects.
  • Review, analyze and monitor mean time between failure data and analysis.
  • Develop and maintain maintenance budgets including submitting capital funding requests, and issuing requests for quotes, and entering purchase order information in the Highline Warren PRMS system.
  • Prepare and communicate detailed summaries of departmental maintenance performance to Blow Molding and Operations management.
  • Develop and monitor appropriate departmental objectives and communicate objectives in departmental meetings.
  • Use independent judgment to assign team member work duties to meet operational requirements. Make sure that team members and co-workers have the information needed to perform their job duties.
  • Supervise team members in a manner that enables growth and success through feedback, training, and encouragement. Establish performance expectations for team members and provide regular feedback and performance reviews to ensure that team members understand how their job duties support the company’s mission and have the right tools/resources to do their jobs well.
  • Maintain an open and candid working relationship with immediate supervisor/manager in discussing matters of importance.
  • Continually evaluate processes, make recommendations, and implement improvements to optimize efficiency. Establish and document standard operating procedures and ensure the team is adhering to them. Drive continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs or increase productivity without reducing effectiveness. Understand and apply lean manufacturing tools and methodology to lead team in continuous improvement activities.
  • Adhere to established company values, practices, policies, and procedures at all times. Follow and support compliance with all applicable safety rules, laws, regulations, and standards. Use independent judgment to ensure that team members follow company policy and maintain a safe work environment by encouraging safe practices and promptly resolving violations, including initiating rewards and discipline as needed.
  • Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance at the assigned work location.
  • Travel to other locations may be required (approximately 14 days a year).

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

An individual qualified for this job must be able to:

  • Demonstrate excellent project coordination skills, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Understand the relative differences in working with aluminum, steel, brass, beryllium and apply knowledge to work process.
  • Complete data-based analyses of problems, develop potential casual factors, and help guide teams through root cause analysis and determination for difficult or complicated problems.
  • Utilize the defined functions in the MVP CMM software system.
  • Read and interpret machine, equipment, product, and bottle engineering and tooling drawings.
  • Understand the mechanisms of polymer processing and degradation.
  • Understand polymer properties including MI, Bulk Density, Molecular weight distributions and their impact on processing, and polymer degradation mechanisms and their impacts on product quality and processing.
  • Independently conduct process reviews.
  • Use a typical range of hand tools including such as taps and dies, thread gauges, calipers, micrometers, multi-meters.
  • Lead and inspire team members; effectively relate to and build team working relationships; conduct productive meetings with small groups of associates.
  • Operate a computer and demonstrate PC proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Effectively use a business communications platform (e.g., RingCentral).
  • Effectively and professionally communicate with co-workers, team members, and internal or external customers. Present information clearly and accurately.
  • Clearly and accurately write preventative maintenance instruction sheets and a variety of reports in a manner that can be understood.
  • Pay attention to details and pursue quality in accomplishing work duties and tasks. Look for opportunities to reduce costs or increase productivity without reducing effectiveness.
  • Handle challenges skillfully, thoroughly, and effectively.

  • Efficiently perform accurate mathematical calculations, including working with fractions, multiplying, dividing, adding, and subtracting number with differing precisions, and effectively use English and Metric measurement systems.

  • Interpret machine and product engineering drawings.
  • Deliver effective training and develop training verification skills in others.
  • Effectively communicate with equipment suppliers and vendors.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATIONS

An individual qualified for this job must have and maintain the following qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in polyolefin processing (blow molding HDPE preferable)
  • Relevant work history working with 480v 3ph power systems.
  • Relevant work experience with and knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out procedures, Safety Task Observation Reporting?and Job Safety Analysis, and OSHA safety requirements.
  • Relevant experience working on complex electronics systems, such as PLCs, computers, LVDTs, servo motors, tachometers, encoders, HMIs, transformers, D to A converters, and proximity switches.
  • Relevant work history working on pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
