Overview of role
We are seeking students currently pursuing a degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering disciplines who are interested in gaining practical experience in project engineering and management. This role will provide exposure to various aspects of project planning, coordination, and execution, including documentation, design support, and process improvement. The intern will work closely with project managers and engineers to ensure projects are completed efficiently and effectively. The intern will report to a Project Engineering Manager and will collaborate cross-functionally to support the development and implementation of engineering standards and project management processes.
Location: Omaha, Nebraska at corporate office

Duration: May 2025 to August 2025
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 40 hours/week
Responsibilities
The Project Engineering Intern will be providing support and assistance to the project engineering team in various aspects of project management and engineering activities. These could include any of the following:
- Project Planning and Coordination: Assist in creating project plans, timelines, and schedules. Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure tasks are completed on time and within budget.
- Documentation: Help in maintaining project documentation, including technical specifications, drawings, and other relevant records. Ensure accurate and organized documentation for future reference.
- Research and Analysis: Conduct research to gather relevant information and data for projects. Assist in analyzing data to support decision-making and problem-solving.
- Design and Development Support: Aid in the design and development of project components, systems, or products. Work with engineering teams to create prototypes, models, or simulations.
- Problem Solving: Help identify and troubleshoot technical issues that arise during project development. Propose potential solutions and assist in implementing corrective actions.
- Data Analysis: Assist in analyzing project-related data and performance metrics. Contribute to the preparation of progress reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Process Improvement: Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness. Identify areas for optimization and propose innovative solutions.
- Learning and Development: Actively engage in learning opportunities to develop technical and project management skills. Seek guidance and mentorship from experienced professionals.
- Health and Safety: Adhere to company safety protocols and promote a safe working environment by following established procedures and guidelines.
- Software and Tools: Utilize relevant software tools and systems, such as project management software, CAD software, and data analysis tools, to support project activities.
- Ad Hoc Responsibilities: Take on additional responsibilities and tasks as directed by project managers or supervisors to contribute to the overall success of projects.

- Manage the creation of engineering standards.

- Drive completion of 10 standards.
- Automate Project Management Process
- Learn and master Project Management process to determine what can be automated.
- Assist in integrating software systems or tools to streamline processes.
- Contribute to the development of dashboards or decision support systems.
- Project Management Support
- Assist project managers in creating and updating project plans, schedules, and budgets for 2-3 small projects.
- Contribute to project progress tracking, milestone reporting, and risk assessments.
- Support communication and coordination among project team members.
