Maintenance Scheduler

Department: Operations-MAINTENANCE
Location: Council Bluffs, IA

SUMMARY

The Maintenance Scheduler position is responsible for ensuring that planned maintenance work is scheduled and coordinated with operations to ensure work is done on time with the right resources and at optimal business efficiency. The Scheduler will work directly with operations and the plant technical team to schedule corrective, preventative and predictive maintenance. The Maintenance Scheduler will also be responsible to build and sustain a reliable CMMS based scheduling process, including training and coaching of operations and maintenance personnel.

Day shift hours: 6:30 am - 3 pm Mon-Fri

$3000 hiring bonus is paid over first 3 months of employment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function.

  • Oversee the micro and macro scheduling processes, including the coordination and leadership of a regular (normally weekly) integrated scheduling meeting. Will also provide management and coordination of maintenance related contractors and service providers.
  • Schedules regular maintenance work, while ensuring adequate balance between business risk, available maintenance resources and minimal production downtime.
  • Reviews production schedules, equipment work orders, input from the plant technical team and staffing information to propose prioritized work schedule to Operations leaders.
  • Determines schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment, asset availability and skill/availability of personnel.
  • Distributes finalized maintenance schedules to departments.
  • Monitors scheduled work completion progress and makes adjustments or reschedules as needed.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments
  • Understands and applies maintenance policies and procedures
  • Updates scheduling standard process and practices based on feedback from the maintenance team.
  • Utilizes metrics/data to evaluate and improve scheduling work processes
  • Partner with the production and support teams to develop work order priorities that are aligned with business needs. This role is the key interface to plan the work for the technical teams.
  • Monitor maintenance records, ensuring the movement of work orders from “ready to be scheduled” to completion.
  • Documents/tracks scheduling misses and past due work reasons.
  • Clearly communicates business risk to the leadership team due to past due PMs.
  • Identify and contribute to continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs or increase productivity without reducing effectiveness.
  • Maintain an open and candid working relationship with immediate supervisor/manager in discussing matters of importance.
  • Adhere to established company values, practices, policies and procedures at all times. Follow and support compliance with all applicable safety rules, laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance at the assigned work location.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities

An individual qualified for this job must be able to:

  • Ability to fully leverage a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), such as Maintenance Connection
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Knowledge of maintenance project implementation
  • Strong knowledge of production and manufacturing processes and scheduling.
  • Knowledge of basic and advanced methods of training and coaching individuals and groups
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation and coordination
  • Strong Interpersonal, decision-making, and organizational skills
  • Ability to prepare detailed repair and metrics reports
  • Ability to work within an integrated operating enterprise
  • Ability to manage team members in executing complex programs
  • Ability to work a variable schedule
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities consistent with the essential duties and responsibilities

Minimum Experience, Education, and Certifications

An individual qualified for this job must have and maintain the following qualifications:

  • High school or equivalent degree required; a two-year technical or bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Environmental Conditions

The environmental conditions described here are representative of those the associate encounters while performing the Essential Functions of the job.

  • The individual will work primarily in an office setting in the same room as other individuals. Noise levels are average for an office and include conversation and/or office equipment noise.
  • The individual will also be expected to work in a manufacturing and production environment while performing inventory duties and working with co-workers, which may include being exposed to work in high/precarious places, moving machinery, marked changes in temperature and humidity, and dust, odors and fumes. Typical noise level is loud.
