Systems Engineer

SUMMARY

The Systems Engineer position is a highly skilled and detail-oriented roll in our organization. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth expertise in VMWare, Veeam, Windows Server, Linux, Azure, AWS, Active Directory, Office 365, co-lo data centers technologies as well as supporting disaster recovery and business continuity planning. This role requires a proactive individual with project management skills who can design, implement, and manage complex systems and ensure the stability and efficiency of our IT infrastructure.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Responsible for the organization's server infrastructure, including physical and virtual servers, monitoring availability, performance, and capacity, troubleshooting issues, and performing necessary upgrades.
• Responsible for configuring and managing SAN environments, monitoring storage performance and capacity, troubleshooting storage-related issues, and performing necessary upgrades.
• Responsible for configuring and managing server backups and disaster recovery solutions utilizing Veeam Backup & Replication or similar technologies.
• Maintain and administer key IT systems including Microsoft Office 365 services, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Terminal Services, MS SQL Server, and other related technologies.
• Implement security vulnerability remediations to address risks identified by the IT Security team.
• Take responsibility for assigned projects and solutions within the IT Infrastructure team.
• Work with internal and external partners to communicate project status, activities, and achievements.
• Develop and maintain documentation, including standard operating procedures, system configurations, and user documentation.
• Assist the service desk and other teams with troubleshooting to identify root cause and provide technical support when needed.
• Take ownership of your speech, conduct, demeanor, and deliverables.
• The ability to work under limited supervision.
• Detail-oriented with strong documentation and organizational skills.
• Adhere to established policies, procedures, agreements, and deadlines.
• Act as thoughtful stewards of the company and its resources.
• Participate in a rotating “on-call” schedule with other members of the team.
• Up to 25% travel may be required to execute assigned activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
• In-depth knowledge of VMWare vSphere and/or Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization technologies.
• Proficiency in implementing and troubleshooting Windows Server and Linux operating systems and associated technologies.
• Proficiency in implementing, tuning and troubleshooting Storage Area Networks.
• Proficiency in implementing and troubleshooting enterprise class backup and recovery solutions utilizing Veeam Backup & Replication or similar technologies.
• Strong understanding of Active Directory, including user and group management, Group Policy, and LDAP integration.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
• Experience with software installation, configuration, and patch management.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with company staff at all levels.
• Microsoft Certifications (MCTS, MCITP, MCSE), VMWare, CompTIA A+ or equivalent are a plus.
• Experience supporting IBM ISeries Systems (AS/400) is a plus.

Sr. System Engineer – Additional Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience.
• Expert level knowledge of VMWare vSphere and/or Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization technologies.
• Expert level experience implementing and troubleshooting Windows Server and Linux operating systems and associated technologies.
• Expert level experience implementing and troubleshooting enterprise class backup and recovery solutions utilizing Veeam Backup & Replication or similar technologies.
• Expert level experience implementing, tuning, and troubleshooting Storage Area Networks.
