Senior Security Engineer

SUMMARY

The Senior Security Engineer works directly with management and IT members to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the organization's systems and informational assets.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function.

  • Design, develop, implements, maintains, and operates comprehensive information security controls and architectures.
  • Analyzes and recommends security controls and procedures in business processes related to use of information systems and assets, and monitors for compliance.
  • Manage major security initiatives and projects from conception to deployment and maintenance.
  • Responds to information system security incidents, including investigation of, countermeasures to, and recovery from computer-based attacks, unauthorized access, and policy breaches.
  • Develop and enforce security policies and procedures that align with company objectives, utilizing assessments and technical controls.
  • Educate and train staff on information system security best practices and oversee security awareness programs.
  • Work with managed service providers to ensure cohesion between internal and sourced security defense solutions.
  • Mentor and lead junior security engineers and other staff in information security theory and application.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

An individual qualified for this job must have:

  • Strong decision-making and project management skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of security principles, techniques, and protocols.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • Deep expertise in specific security areas such as network security, cloud security, or application security.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, methodologies, technologies, architecture and resources

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years’ experience working in Information Security
  • An individual qualified for this job must have and maintain the following qualifications:
    • Certifications – CISSP, GCIH, CEH, or similar.
  • Education - Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) in Computer Science or related field or Military experience
