Receiving Lead for Distribution Center

Department: Operations-RECEIVING
Location: Elkton, MD

$1000 Sign On Bonus

Salary range - $20.00 - $25.00 per hour depending on experience

Basic Function:

Highline Warren is currently seeking an experienced and highly skilled Receiving Lead. The Receiving Lead will be responsible for leading all day-to-day operations including loading and unloading operations, inventory control, and material handling. Develop, communicate and enforce compliance to all DC policies and procedures. Ensuring all continuous improvement and cost objectives are met. Hours for this position are 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday. OT and weekends as necessary.

Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinate inbound delivery appointments including; carrier unloading, staging, freight breakdown, labeling, and delivery receiving documents
  • Process inbound delivery receipts in WMS for merchandise put away; optimizing cube, slotting and demand history
  • Oversee the unloading of goods and materials from incoming shipments, ensuring they are handled efficiently and safely to prevent damage
  • Verify received goods against purchase orders, meticulously checking for accuracy in quantities, descriptions, and condition, and recording any discrepancies or damages
  • Manage the scheduling of receiving operations to align with delivery schedules and warehouse capacity, adjusting as necessary to maintain workflow and space efficiency
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols in the receiving area, conducting regular safety inspections and training staff on proper handling and storage techniques to minimize accidents and injuries
  • Develop and maintain documentation and reports related to receiving activities, including goods received, discrepancies, returns, damages, and corrective actions taken ensuring compliance with company
  • Direct employees in the receipt of all incoming product and accurately updated inventory using WMS software
  • Ensure all delivery errors were processed in order to minimize company costs
  • Prepare weekly receiving log reports for the corporate office
  • Train employees in the value of adhering to company policies, procedures and standards, and strengthened their dedication to following these guidelines
  • Communicate relevant information to other department managers about order status, special orders, discounts, trial products, and shipping errors
  • Ensure receivers are consistently delivered on the company's commitment to customer service
  • Reinforce performance standards established to control shrink and potential loss to the company
  • Maintain inventory reports to ensure proper inventory control
  • Organize new inventory based on need, accessibility, and quantity
  • Perform any other duties assigned as it relates to the overall business of the company
  • Responsible for leading all aspects of the receiving department
  • OT and weekend hours as needed


Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of receiving experience
  • Inventory management experience
  • Shipping & receiving protocols
  • WMS experience
  • Team Coordination and leadership experience
  • Reach Truck, Electric Pallet Rider, Forklift experience a must
  • Stock Picker/Cherry Picker experience preferred
  • Leadership experience preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Basic computer skills
