Merchandise Processor - Packing Lead

Highline Warren is currently seeking an experienced Packing Lead. As a Packing Lead, you will provide leadership to the Warehouse Associates as they perform distribution-related processes. This is an opening shift position with a start time of 7:00 AM.

Job Summary: The Merchandise Processor - Packing Lead is responsible for coordinating and supervising the packing and shipping operations within a facility, ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of merchandise. They oversee a team of packing associates and work closely with various departments to meet daily production goals and maintain high-quality standards. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that customer orders are accurately fulfilled and delivered on time.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision and Leadership:

    • Lead and mentor a team of packing associates, providing guidance, training, and feedback.
    • Ensure that the packing team operates efficiently, effectively, and safely.
    • Schedule and allocate resources as needed to meet daily production targets.

Quality Control:

  • Ensure merchandise is accurately picked, packed, and labeled according to established standards.
    • Conduct regular quality checks to identify and address any errors or discrepancies.
    • Implement best practices for quality assurance and accuracy.
  • Inventory Management:

    • Keep track of inventory levels and report any shortages or discrepancies to management.
    • Assist in maintaining organized and efficient storage of merchandise.
  • Packaging Materials:

    • Maintain an adequate supply of packaging materials and request replenishments as needed.
    • Optimize the use of packaging materials to minimize waste and reduce costs.
  • Order Processing:

    • Oversee the efficient processing of customer orders and ensure timely shipping.
    • Coordinate with the order fulfillment team to ensure orders are prioritized and processed accurately.
  • Safety and Compliance:

    • Promote and enforce safety guidelines and regulations in the packing area.
    • Ensure compliance with all company policies, including those related to safety, security, and ethical conduct.
  • Communication:

  • Collaborate with various departments, such as logistics, warehouse, and customer service, to resolve issues and streamline operations.

    • Communicate regularly with management to report progress and address any challenges or concerns.
  • Performance Tracking:

    • Monitor and record key performance metrics related to packing and shipping efficiency.
    • Identify areas for improvement and develop action plans to enhance productivity and accuracy.
  • Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Proven experience in merchandise packing and shipping, with a minimum of 2-3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management abilities.
  • Physical Requirements:

    This role may require the ability to lift, carry, and move heavy merchandise and stand for extended periods.

Environmental Conditions

  • The individual will be expected to work in a warehouse environment, which may include being exposed to work in high/precarious places, moving machinery, marked changes in temperature and humidity, and dust, odors and fumes. Typical noise level is loud.
