SUMMARY
As a member of the Corporate EHS Team, the Environmental Manager is responsible for managing environmental compliance efforts across the company. This position will be responsible for establishing and maintaining our environmental compliance programs and developing effective educational material. He/She will work in collaboration with Operations, Logistics, Legal and Site EHS personnel to build sustainable processes. This position will have primary oversight of all permitting/reporting activities and responsible to ensure they remain current and accurate as our operation processes evolve.

ESSENTIAL FUNCIONS

- Develop, implement, and maintain environmental programs & processes that comply with federal, state, and local regulations. Must be easy to understand and apply by our site EHS Leads.
- Maintain positive, proactive relationships with Regulatory Agency contacts, creating easy communication flow and positive view of operations by regulators.
- Ability to work with internal & external Legal Councils and Site Leaders to resolve regulatory issues. Must be able to effectively communicate/present issues and plans for resolution to Legal, Site & Senior Company Leaders as necessary.
- Work in collaboration with Site Leadership teams and EHS Site Leads to implement changes, programs, and initiatives that increase performance in environmental areas.
- Evaluate operations and make recommendations on waste stream identification and waste reduction efforts keeping with Highline Warren’s target for ‘Zero Waste-to-Landfill’. Move all Highline Warren sites to a small quantity waste generator site status.
- Work with sites to ensure all applicable plans, permits, & reports are in place, accurate and current. This includes air, stormwater, waste, etc., based on local, state & federal requirements. Provide technical resources and oversight to facility management in preparation and submission of such reports, plans, permits, and licenses.
- Partner with Corporate Training to review, edit, create, and deploy effective environmental training programs appropriate for employees at every level of the organization. Course content and delivery should be such to promote high retention levels and easily applied to each functional role’s daily tasks.
- Manage and lead the environmental audit program. Ability to prepare audit reports, recommendations and analyze results to present out to Site Leadership.
- Collaborate with Site Leadership & Legal on any type of environmental release to ensure proper notifications are made both internally and externally as protocols dictate. Advise site on response/clean-up as needed.
- Act as a change agent to drive cultural change and inspires others to action through collaboration and influence. Build systems that are easily understood and enable others to act.
- Maintain strong knowledge of current and pending regulatory requirements and technological advancements regarding remediation & control methods.
- Identify and contribute to continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs or increase productivity without reducing effectiveness of our EHS initiatives.
- Maintain an open and candid working relationship with the Environmental Sustainability Manager in discussing matters of importance.

- Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance at the assigned work location. Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.

- Perform environmental inspections in the capacity of lead auditor.
- Possess strong knowledge and understanding of federal environmental regulations, with the capacity to learn key state requirements. Must also have working knowledge of workplace safety with a desire to learn.
- Skilled at using various types of continuous improvement tools to help sites improve their environmental processes.
- Possess a temperament biased toward action, at the same time showing some level of operational empathy as needed.
- Ability to deliver results in a timely fashion, without compromising the quality of the results.
- Must be able to build sustainability into each plan, program, process that is created.
- Must possess strong time management skills to be able to manage one’s own schedule. Can be a remote position, realizing there is a high level of travel associated with it. Must be able to adapt schedules as business needs demand.
- Must be available during non-business hours to respond to emergency situations as needed. Able to travel up to 50%.
- Efficiently operate a computer and demonstrate PC proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATIONS
An individual qualified for this job must have and maintain the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Management, related Engineering, or other similar Sciences required.
- 5- 7 years of experience managing environmental programs, practices, regulatory agency requirements and industry standards in a manufacturing environment.
- At least 3-5 years of auditing experience required.
- Valid drivers’ license required.
- Working toward (or possess) a Certified Environmental Professional (CEP)

ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS
The environmental conditions described here are representative of those the associate encounters while performing the Essential Functions of the job.
- The individual will work in multiple work environments to include office, manufacturing, distribution & warehousing. Noise levels will vary depending on the environment he/she are in. Where hearing protection is required, it is expected, this individual will abide by the site rules.
- Conditions in our plants & warehouses may have swings in temperatures depending on location and time of year. Individual must be prepared to work in cold or hot environments when assessing operations, meeting with employees, etc.
- There will be times when this position will have to work outdoors, assessing parking lots and grounds for environmental containment, treatment, potential releases, etc.
