Manager of IT Business Management

The IT Business Operations Manager plays a critical role in driving the efficiency, effectiveness, and strategic alignment of the IT department by overseeing day-to-day operational activities. This position is responsible for continuous improvement of IT processes, management of IT budgets and contracts, and supporting the office of the CIO in aligning IT operational activities with broader business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Budget Management & Financial Strategy: Collaborate with IT leadership and corporate finance to manage IT capital and expense budgets. Oversee the month-end close process for IT operational and project capital expenses.
  • Process Governance & Operational Excellence: Develop, implement, and continuously refine IT policies, processes, and governance standards. Ensure alignment with industry best practices and support efficient business operations. Coordinate cross-department IT processes such as Production Change Advisory Board, Disaster Recovery Planning, annual budgeting and planning, and vendor compliance reporting.
  • Strategic Communications & Executive Reporting: Lead strategic communications for the IT department, including preparing and delivering materials for recurring executive updates. Clearly articulate the value and impact of IT operations on business outcomes. Oversee the IT department intranet site, quarterly IT town hall meetings, and other content as needed by the CIO or other IT leadership.
  • Strategic IT Vendor Management: Partner with IT Leadership and corporate procurement to oversee the full lifecycle of IT vendor management, including contract management, service level agreements (SLAs), and vendor performance reviews. Ensure vendor relationships drive business value and align with strategic organizational goals.

  • Culture of Excellence: Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Ensure IT is aligned with the strategic goals of the business.

Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred) or equivalent professional experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar IT Business Operations role, including responsibilities for IT Finance and/or Vendor Management, with a strong focus on aligning IT business operations with business objectives.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in roles leveraging IT Service Management. Demonstrated knowledge of production change management and disaster recovery methodologies.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strategic Financial Management: Strong financial acumen with expert understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and expense management. Focus on optimizing IT investments to drive business growth and efficiency.
  • Comprehensive IT Operations Knowledge: Broad knowledge of core IT business processes (e.g., ITIL) and their impact on business operations and growth.
  • Executive-Level Facilitation & Stakeholder Management: Exceptional facilitation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. Focus on aligning outcomes with business objectives.
  • Writing and Presentation Development: Strong experience in creating well-structured presentations.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Strong collaboration skills with a demonstrated ability to align diverse participants toward achieving IT operational goals that support broader business outcomes.
  • Analytical & Strategic Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to balance tactical needs with a strategic and forward-thinking mindset that drives business value.
